I Guess We Should Have Hugged Goodbye Instead...

Spring of 2004 we had planned to put our small condo up for sale. Our family was bursting the seams of that small 2-bedroom and it was time to move on. The plan was to have Charming stay behind and work out the details, while me and the 4 kids pack up and go to live with Charming's mom. She lives in a different state and was more than happy to open up her home to us! What a great lady!

We weren't sure if he would find a job where we were, or one where we were going, but on faith I packed up the van and we headed out. I enrolled the kids in school here and we tried to make plans for our “new” life, wherever it might take us.

Being without Charming was hard enough, but having to make sure the 4 kids didn't spill grape juice on Grandma's white couch was another. Yes, the stress level was very high. Regardless, I appreciated the kindness that was being shown to us.

I blamed my late period on the high stress level I was going though, but did think about pregnancy as a possible cause. I was in fact very stressed out, but a dollar store test would prove I was pregnant as well.

I almost passed out when I read he results. I couldn't believe it! “How in the world did THIS happen”, I thought! Hmm. I wonder.

My sister in-law, came for a visit, just minutes after I read the results, and told me that I should NEVER trust a 'DOLLAR STORE' test, and ran out to get a “real” test. Ha, 25 bucks later, the result was the same. +++++

I was going to keep the news to myself (and my sister in-law) for as long as I could, but I felt honesty was the best thing here...so when my mother in-law came home, I told her the news. Shocked, she hugged me and told me everything was going to be ok.

Calling Charming to let him know - well that was nerve-wracking. This was not the plan. I was actually a bit scared for his reaction. But when I told him, he proved his worth, saying how awesome it was and showing concern for me. He changed course and moved up here pretty quickly. We both hoped for a boy, because, after all, this would SURELY be the last one!

We stayed with mom-in-law until my 9th month, and moved into a 4 bedroom duplex, which seemed to fit our family just right! On December 21st, our not-so-little BOY was born. Weighing in at 7 pounds 15 ounces.

It was the most perfect birth, with no complications.

Our son is now 2 yrs old and such a sweet, smart boy. He is a Mamma's boy and loves to snuggle with me, after the other kids have gone to bed. Yes, he has me right where he wants me...but I love it!
