I had
the appointment set. I was going to take things into my own hands and
get myself protected against another pregnancy. I was frustrated. My
husband has made it quite clear on how he felt about getting a
vasectomy….and me, well pills and chemicals do not mesh well in my body.
So I opted for a diaphragm. I went to the appointment. While there they
had me pee in a cup and get ready for the fitting. I sat on the table,
half naked and waited for my doctor. After what seemed like a very very
long time….she finally entered, with a extremely puzzled look on her
face.
“Umm, we don’t
fit pregnant women with diaphragms”.
OK, fine. Hi, I'm ‘Feritle Mertyl’. I was NOT expecting this pregnancy
and found myself quite confused. I began to cry and asked the doctor how
this could happen. She jokingly went on to tell me…”Well, honey, when
a man and woman love each other…”
Ha ha ha, very funny!
On the way home, the flood of emotions hit me. “When did this happen?”
“This is all my husbands fault!” “What are we going to do?” “How am I
going to tell people?”
I called my husband, a bit fearful of his reaction (but, darnit, it was
HIS fault!). I caught him at a meeting, and his response was "Really?
Congratulations! That's awesome!" He was calm, cool and collected - the
opposite of my feelings at that moment.
I am happy now, of course, and excited
for the blessing to come. God would not give me this child if He didn't
think I was going to bless them in some way. Now if I can just convince
Charming not to name it Ripley or Rock or Maverick! At least he's given
up on Star Trek names...
Thanks!
