So, Who Am I, Anyway?

And why do you care? Well, you are here reading (and maybe even helping me out with a box of diapers), so allow me to introduce myself. I am 32 years old, married and have a life filled with highs and lows…just like you I’m sure!

And, YES, you've been reading right: I have five children and am pregnant with our sixth!

“You know what causes that, right?” is the most common response I've gotten when people find out I am pregnant again. They simply don’t understand why on earth I would let this happen!

I love my family. They mean everything to me. When I was young, Brady Bunch was my favorite show. I told my mom that I was going to grow up and have 6 kids…so there ya go. For those of you who have watched the Secret - yes, the
Law of Attraction is REAL!

I am not my kids…but even I forget this all the time! I am not “just a mom”…I am so much more then that. It does consume a great part of my life. But there is more to me than just my kids. Being a mom, especially a mother to five children, usually means life is packed full. Life outside my family usually only consists of church and those many stops at the grocery store.

But I do have my hobbies:

Scrapbooking: I love to take time out and put some creativity into my books. With 5 kids…I am never bored. I have a group of friends who meet each month for a scrapbooking weekend. I go about every third month - I just can't see being gone that often!

Drawing: I do like to draw…and when I spend time doing it, I am pretty good. In high school, I fashioned myself a cartoonist - but this was put to the side after having my first child.

Reading: Lately, my reading has consisted of Cat in the Hat or Junie B. Jones…But I do enjoy a grown up book every now and then. My favorites include To Kill a Mockingbird, the Chicken Soup Series, and right now Charming and I are going through The Purpose Driven Life.

Computer time: Sometimes, my only contact with the outside world, is through the internet. I belong to a few parenting groups and love to IM back and forth with family.

Who am I? A Christian, a wife, a lover, a mother, a chef, a doctor, a janitor, a driver, a shoulder to cry on, and so much more. I am woman - hear me roar! (I've always wanted to say that!)

How to Confirm You are
Losing Yourself in Your Kids

  1. Everybody in the neighborhood calls you mom, including
    your husband!

2. You know more about the Blues Clues Politics of Joe
vs. Steve than the politics of the war in Iraq.

3. You drive alone but leave the kids music tape playing.

4. You go to Easter Service in your Dollar Store
    flip-flops.

5. You say things like "Barbie's Fairytopia is OK, but Bratz
   Fairytopia is not."

6. You go to  and order Chicken Sketti.

7. You breastfeed in front of the mailman.
